Why We Built This Site
North Carolina gives the public broad access to many court records under Chapter 132 and the court record rules used by the Judicial Branch. The hard part is knowing whether a Haywood County file belongs with the Clerk of Superior Court, the NC eCourts Portal, the Register of Deeds, the Sheriff's Office, or a state agency. Jeff Haynes, the Haywood County Clerk of Superior Court, keeps Superior Court and District Court case files at the Justice Center in Waynesville and also acts as ex officio judge of probate. The Register of Deeds handles marriage licenses and vital records at 215 N Main Street, Suite 213. The Sheriff's Office handles detention, incident, arrest, and law-enforcement records from 1620 Brown Avenue.

Only the issuing court or government office can provide a certified copy with an official seal. We can point you to the right office, but the document has to come from them.
